North Riding League Preview 17/10/21- Redcar Athletic v Thornaby, Richmond Development v Redcar Town Reserves, Poppleton v Guisborough Reserves

 

Redcar Athletic host the second of this weekend's Teesside derbies as they welcome Thornaby to Green Lane. Athletic have had an indifferent start tot he season winning three and losing three so far this term. Thornaby have faired a little better by winning three and losing just once in their four league games. Only goal difference separates the sides ahead of the weekend with Thornaby boasting a mightily impressive +30 compared to Redcar Athletic's strong +12. With Thornaby leading The North Riding Football League goalscoring charts and Athletic in joint second place, it will come down to who's defence holds strongest. As things stand Thornaby pip the hosts on that score but, Athletic are now soaring after a poor start tot he campaign and have won three of their last four.

There's a big top of the table clash as league leaders Richmond Town Development host unbeaten Redcar Town Reserves in second place. Richmond lead with fifteen points from six games while Town have ten points from four games. Win, lose, or draw, Richmond will remain at the summit for at least another week so, it's an opportunity for Town Reserves to close the gap. With three wins and a draw, this is an impressive start to the season for a side that has quickly progressed over a few short seasons. Richmond's only defeat was a home game but, Town's only dropped points (a draw) was away so, both sides have shown vulnerability.

Guisborough Town Reserves are away to Poppleton this weekend. Guisborough Reserves have won two of their last three games in the league but, are yet to win an away game. Poppleton have only won one of their last three but, are unbeaten at home. Guisborough may have the league's poorest defensive record but, only the bottom four have scored fewer goals than the hosts. Poppleton will be fancied for this match but, I believe Guisborough Reserves have the ability to cause an upset.

Weekend Preview: Guisborough Town Reserves v Boro Rangers - Middlesbrough Development v Redcar Athletic - Kader v Old Malton St Mary's - North Riding League

  Boro Rangers begin life in the North Riding League with a Teesside derby at Guisborough Town Reserves. Boro Rangers will be a very different side with a lot of changes for the new season. Guisborough Reserves will continue to grow and improve and this will be an interesting game to see where both sides are. Redcar Athletic start their campaign with a Teesside derby at Middlesbrough Women Development. On paper, Boro Devs look to have a competitive side with the addition of players like Vicky Gunn, Tyler Sharp and, Ebony Housam, among others. Athletic are always competitive and will be eyeing a place at the top or as close as come the end of the season. Kader return to the senior leagues this season with a home game against fellow newcomers Old Malton St Mary’s .

Weekend Preview: Leeds Utd v Middlesbrough - Norton v Chorley - FA Women's National League Division 1 North

Middlesbrough look to make it three wins from three this Sunday as they travel to West Yorkshire for a big match against Leeds United in The FA National League . Boro have started the season with back to back wins and hope to make a treble this weekend as they bid for an instant return to the premier division. Leeds are currently fourth in the Division 1 North after three games. They won their opening game against Hull 1-0 at home before losing away to Barnsley. The hosts also won their third game in midweek 4-0 at home against Stockport. Last weekend Boro had to dig in against Chorley to come from behind to claim three points for the second game in a row. Norton & Stockton Ancients host Chorley this Sunday looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Following Wednesday night's well earned point at Durham Cestria, Norton are in sixth place with five points from their first three games while Chorley are just two points and one place behind.
